Moving to Hamburg comes with many exciting discoveries: new neighbourhoods, new favourite cafés, new restaurants and, eventually, the very important questions: where do I get my nails done, brows shaped, skin treated or that tattoo I have been thinking about for six months?


Luckily, you don't have to figure it all out alone.



We combed through our Hamburg Community group chat, which now has more than 900 members and has been active for several years. And if there is one thing we have learned, it's that our community has opinions. From the perfect place for a clean manicure to tattoo artists, brow specialists, massages and beauty treatments, there is always someone ready to share a recommendation (or a "don´t go there").


So, rather than keeping all those tips buried somewhere deep in a WhatsApp conversation, we have collected some of the community's favourite Beauty & Personal Care spots in Hamburg in one place.

💅 Nail Salons & Nail Artists


Kelly Nails — Eppendorf


A recommendation that came up twice in the community, Kelly Nails was described as "reasonable and good", which, frankly, is a pretty compelling combination. The Eppendorf studio offers manicures, Shellac, French designs, pedicures and gel or powder nail modelling.

Happy Nails — Osterstraße


If you are looking for a reco in Eimsbüttel, Happy Nails on Osterstraße is another community-recommended option. The salon offers everything from straightforward manicures and pedicures to gel, acrylic, French and chrome finishes. A useful option for a classic mani-pedi without too much fuss.

New Wave Nails — Blankenese


For anyone living more in the west, New Wave Nails in Blankenese is an easy one to keep on the radar. Located directly by Blankenese station, the salon offers manicures, Shellac, gel and powder nails, pedicures and creative nail designs. Current reviews highlight reliable service, cleanliness and a wide range of styles.

Life & Art — Eimsbüttel


If your idea of self-care involves sitting down, switching off and letting someone else worry about the state of your cuticles, Life & Art is a solid community favourite. The studio in Eimsbüttel focuses on professional hand and nail care, from classic manicures and French pedicures to nail extensions and more elaborate nail art. Their current service offering also includes Shellac and vegan pedicure options, with SpaRitual products used in the salon.

MOWA Beauty — Uhlenhorst & Rotherbaum


The BBA Community chat described MOWA as "Perfect & clean", and that is exactly the kind of recommendation we want when someone is about to work on our hands. MOWA has grown into a small Hamburg nail-studio network, with locations in Uhlenhorst and Rotherbaum.

Doma at Blur Atelier — Fineline & Faux Freckles Tattoos


For those who prefer their tattoos delicate rather than "I got this on a wild night in 2009" energy, Doma at Blur Atelier is one to bookmark. Doma specialises in fineline and minimalist tattoos, and if you want to look like you just passed your summer directly in the sun, thex also do faux freckles! The BBA community particularly praised her work because tattoos healed well without issues such as lines blurring.

Müge Bilir — Fine Line & Lettering


Müge Bilir is a Hamburg- and Istanbul-based tattoo artist whose signature style centres around elegant fineline lettering and symbolic tattoos. She has been tattooing since 2015 and has developed a recognisable minimalist aesthetic. Her Hamburg studio is located at HOOD7.

Statemode — Hamburg Jewellery Designer


Sometimes you don't need another piercing — you just need better jewellery for the piercings you already have. Statemode is a Hamburg-based jewellery label by BBA member Aysha Noora, who makes a variety of sterling silver pieces.

a cute color — Colourful Skin-Sensitive Jewellery Made in Hamburg


If you are looking for fun, colourful jewellery that is a little less predictable than your standard gold-and-silver pieces, a cute color is a lovely Hamburg-based option. The brand creates playful, graphic earrings and jewellery in small batches at its Hamburg studio. Their hoops, ear studs and chains are made from 316L stainless steel or gold-plated 316L stainless steel, which the brand describes as robust, skin-friendly and generally well tolerated by people with sensitive skin. That said, a cute color notes that the material can contain small amounts of nickel and therefore does not guarantee that every piece is completely nickel-free — so if you have a nickel allergy, it is worth contacting them before ordering.

Astrid & Miyu


Astrid & Miyu was recommended by the community for its focus on jewellery materials and piercing-friendly pieces. The UK brand ships to Germany and is particularly popular for stacking and mixing delicate pieces.

Mejuri


Another community favourite for jewellery is Mejuri, particularly for its combination of everyday designs, quality and customer service. The brand ships directly to Germany, so while there isn't currently a Hamburg shop to pop into, it is an easy option when you are looking for something a little more elevated than high-street jewellery.

👀 Brows, Lashes & Waxing


bb browbar — Brows, Threading & Lashes


This Hamburg concept studio focuses heavily on facial hair removal and shaping, with services designed according to facial proportions. Services include threading, waxing, tinting, brow henna, lash extensions and lash lifts. The company currently operates in different locations including Europa Passage and the Elbe Einkaufszentrum.

Twinkle Brow Bars — Six Hamburg Locations


For anyone who wants convenience, Twinkle Brow Bars has a pretty strong argument: six locations across Hamburg. The community recommendation was that they "usually do a good job", and the current network covers everything from Poppenbüttel and Barmbek to the city centre, Osdorf, Harburg and Rahlstedt.

Waxcat — Waxing, Laser & Brows


Waxing is one of those things that is much easier when you find a place you trust and simply stop thinking about it. Waxcat has five locations across Hamburg and offers waxing, laser hair removal and brow/lash services. The company says it has more than ten years of waxing experience, uses vegan wax and accepts both appointments and walk-ins. The BBA community recommended Waxcat more than once, with members particularly noting the friendly staff (though not all staff speak English).

Confident & Pure — HafenCity


If your skin needs some serious attention rather than another sheet mask from the supermarket, Confident & Pure is a community favourite. The private studio in HafenCity focuses on holistic cosmetic treatments and personalised skincare. The community specifically recommended Melanie for facials, peels and Aquafacial treatments.

New Soul — Tailored Massages in Eppendorf

New Soul describes itself as a medical wellness studio specialising in individually tailored massages. It is right by Eppendorfer Marktplatz and explicitly offers its services in both German and English — a useful bonus for Hamburg's international crowd. The BBA community described the space as cosy and the stass is English-speaking.

Hamam Hafen Hamburg — A Traditional Turkish Bath


For a proper wellness ritual, head to Hamam Hafen Hamburg near the Landungsbrücken. The traditional hammam experience includes warming up, a body scrub, soap massage and time to relax afterwards. Massages and treatment packages are also available. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are women-only; Thursday to Sunday are mixed. Advance booking is recommended.

Aspria Hamburg — Spa, Fitness & Wellness


For an all-in-one wellness experience, Aspria combines fitness, pools, saunas, spa treatments, massages and sports including tennis, with clubs in Uhlenhorst and Alstertal. It is membership-based, making it better suited to those looking for a regular wellness routine rather than a one-off spa visit.

Agata Massage Studio — Neustadt


Agata Massage Studio is one of those recommendations that kept resurfacing in the BBA community, particularly for sports massage and more holistic, physical-therapy-style treatments. If you are looking for a massage that goes beyond simply lying down for an hour while someone lightly rubs your shoulders, this is one to investigate.

For traditional Thai massage, MY THAI SPA in Rotherbaum is a community favourite. The community recommends this spot especially for couples' massages.

Praxis YINMAI — Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine


At Praxis YINMAI, Alexander Sorge works with acupuncture and Chinese medicine, with a particular focus on fertility, women's health, pregnancy, pain, stress and other concerns. The BBA community recommendation was particularly enthusiastic, with one member saying they "1000% recommend" it.

Luminous Yoga Life — Postpartum Massage at Home


For new mums, Luminous Yoga Life offers postpartum massage. Treatments combine traditional massage with belly wrapping and can also include lymphatic and lactation massage. Sessions are designed to be flexible and baby-friendly.

AKESO medical focuses on aesthetic medicine and longevity, with an approach centred around subtle, individual results rather than changing someone's entire face. The clinic offers aesthetic treatments, facial treatments, anti-ageing and preventative treatments and emphasises consultation and aftercare. One BBA member specifically shared that they are "so glad with the result".

NOE Clinics is another community recommendation for aesthetic medicine, particularly if you are looking for masseter Botox. The clinic's current focus includes wrinkle and anti-ageing treatments, facial modelling and regenerative aesthetics, with an emphasis on subtle, harmonious results.

Ewa Isabella Make-Up Studio


For weddings, events or simply wanting someone else to make you look very put together, Ewa Isabella is a Hamburg-based makeup artist and Beauty Coach. Her studio offers professional makeup and hairstyling for events and bridal styling.
